Kimiko Suzuki
(1929-1992)
- (IAWA Collection Ms2013-089)

Japanese architect Kimiko Suzuki attended Japan Women’s University, where she became the first graduate of the housing studies program. After World War II, she worked in an architectural practice but eventually had to resign to care for her husband’s parents. Soon after, Suzuki started her own practice, which operated out of her home and produced residential projects, a kindergarten, and a medical clinic. At the age of 50, Suzuki was diagnosed with cancer and withdrew from practice ten years later.
Her IAWA collection includes three sets of graphite drawings for the Susume Abe residence, as well as a publication documenting the completed project in 1967.
