Yasmeen Lari

Yasmeen Lari received her education at the Polytechnic of North London and the College of Technology, Oxford, UK. She became the first female architect to register in Pakistan in 1963 and an associate of RIBA, UK, in 1969. As the founder and principal of Lari Associates, Architects & Urban Designers, Lari’s work spans residencies, indigenous mud projects, interiors, restoration and conservation, and large-scale projects. In 1980, she co-founded the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan with her husband, an NGO dedicated to the historic preservation of art and architecture, while also providing aid and housing to local communities in need. Lari served as president of the Institute of Architects in Pakistan from 1980 to 1983 and as the first chairman of the Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners from 1983 to 1986. She received the 2020 Jane Drew Award and the RIBA Royal Gold Medal in 2023.
